Presented is one of the most
unusual and handsome vintage binnacles we have ever seen. The helmet style hood has a large round center port
with a single oil lamp to starboard. Arms on either side hold twin iron balls for adjusting deviation. Mounted in
back is a cylindrical chart case. The copper pedestal was polished some time ago and now has a nice patina which enhances
its good looks. The compass card is marked Iver C. Weilbach, Copenhagen. This binnacle offers many features found in
those of Sestral, Henry Browne, Kelvin White, and Ritchie.
CONDITION: There are some minor dents and abrasions
as would be expected from its use at sea. The compass works as it should and all parts are present. What may appear to
some as a vertical crack in the metal is no more then the edge of a cover plate. Overall condition
is exceptional
