Presented is a brand new and larger model of the famous Schooner BRILLIANT, as designed by Sparkman & Stephens. The new model of this famous schooner
is 10" larger in both its length and height which is measured from the bottom of the stand to the top of the mainmast. It
is 2 1/4" wider.
This is a Mystic Seaport licensed
reproduction so your satisfaction is assured and made iron clad by our guarantee of personal satisfaction.
FEATURES:
Brilliant features a beautifully shaped hull with spoon bow, bow sprit, and stern overhang, glistening in white enamel, varnished
masts, decks and cabin houses. She is schooner rigged and is flying a jib, forestay sail, gaff headed Foresail, and Marconi
main. The running rigging, including carefully stitched sails is authentic to the last detail.
She is built using new procedures and materials to replicate in the tiniest detail all the things that
make up a yacht of this outstanding quality. These include a hand planked hull over frames finished in seven coats of hand
rubbed enamel and varnished brightwork. The pin rails and belaying pins, laid teak deck, anchors, chain, stitched sails, wood
sail hoops on the fore mast, tiny wood blocks, accurate standing and running rigging, sail numbers on both sides, shielded
running lights, and all sorts of deck hardware and fittings. It comes with the mast and sails down to save on shipping costs.
Detailed instructions are furnished, but because of the attention to great detail this model is more
challenging to rig then are more simple ones. However, you will be rewarded with an exceptional result when you are done.
She makes an incomparable addition to your home, den or office.
FLAT
RATE INSURED SHIPPING to 48 contiguous States $17.00
MINOR ASSEMBLY REQUIRED: To save cost,
this model is shipped with its masts down. Because of the amount of rigging, and sails, this might not be the best choice
for a beginner. If you have an understanding of a sailboat's rigging and have good skills with your hands, you should be able
to step the masts and hook on all the stays and shrouds, and attach the sails. The detailed instructions are excellent, and
the sails have numbered stickers on them for guidance.
BRIEF HISTORY: She
was conceived by the firm of Sparkman & Stephens when they were just starting out. BRILLIANT
was launched in 1932, and right off she was entered in that years Bermuda Race. She did not win, but came close to setting
a course record. The next year she competed in the British Fastnet Race and finished fourth.
Over the next ten years her ownership
changed a few times and during WW II she served in the Coast Guard as a patrol boat. At war's end she was purchased by the
well known sportsman, Briggs Cunningham, a sports car and yacht race competitor of note.
In 1953, Cunningham donated Brilliant
to the museum where her two early skippers, Adrian Lane and Biff Bowker developed a sail training program for local waters.
When George Moffett became captain in 1883, the program was expanded and ultimately included a cruise to, Europe. She was
also active in American Sail Training Association races wining in her class and in one case be First in Fleet. Since joining
Mystic Seaport’s fleet in 1953, BRILLIANT has carried more than 8,000 crew members in
her sail-training programs, the oldest program of its type in the U.S. This program served Mariner Girl Scouts from the mid-1950s
to the mid-1980s, and is now open to all teenagers and adults. In 1997, she was named Sail Training Ship of the Year by the
American Sail Training Association, and has been a consistent winner in classic yacht races during the past 25 years.

If you've been browsing through all
the boat models offered on eBay, you will be hard pressed to find something that represents boats that are North American
in design, and are executed as finely overall. You can spend a lot more money for so called "museum quality" detailing, but
you can get the same satisfaction from our new line of moderately priced, high quality models.
As a retired professional
Master mariner, we take pride in offering high quality models of boats known and loved by American sailors at a reasonable
price that will give you lasting enjoyment, and pride of ownership. Our models are of unparalleled quality and faithfulness
to the original builder's plans including the rake of the masts, fit of the sails, proportions of the hull, and the cut of
the bow.

SPARKMAN & STEPHENS' BRILLIANT BRIEF HISTORY:
Schooner Brilliant has the reputation of
being one of the highest quality wooden yachts ever built in the United States. Henry B. Nevins of City Island, New York were
her builders and Olin Stephens her designer. She crossed the Atlantic in 1933, sailing from the Nantucket Lightship to Bishop's
Rock in the record time of 15 days, one hour and 23 minutes. She has participated in several Bermuda races and transatlantic
voyages. During World War II she served with the Coast Guard as a patrol picket vessel. After the war, Briggs Cunningham,
bought her at auction, restored her and in 1953 donated her to the Museum.
Brilliant is used by the seaport as a sail
training vessel to introduce young people to the arts of seamanship. If her slip is empty when you visit, it is because she
is at sea doing teen or adult sail training. During her 2000 season she participated in Tall Ships 2000 Race Legs and other
voyages on both sides of the Atlantic. She took first place in the Tall Ships Race from Halifax to Amsterdam.
