Presented is hard hat , deep sea diving relic from World War Two. It comesfrom the collection of a second generation
deep water diver who had a collectors’ compulsion of gathering everything he could related to diving. It was made by the
Guided Radio Corp. of New York City, NY. We know nothing about the Type 957 System except that it is powered
by tubes and has toggle switches that allow the tender to talk to each diver individually or as a group and allows one
diver to talk to another. All the switching is done from the comm box. This
the same system that was used in the movie, Men of Honor, staring Robert De Nero and Cuba Gooding, Jr.It is being sold for display only and should
be considered as not in working order. This example has no paperwork,
or an operator’s manual. The serial number is 20XX and the date of manufacture is November 11. 1944. It is housed
in PROVENANCE: From the estate of a hardscrabble
character and second generation hard hat diver, and the son of a member of the salvage team of the 17 month project to
refloat the French ocean liner Normandie on the Hudson River that completed in 1947. Not only did the deceased have an incredible
hard helmet and diving equipment collection, he also, in his lifeti
me, managed to assemble an amazing collection of anything
related to diving.CONDITION: This is a tube set and has not been opened
or tested. There are obvious signs of wear, use , scratches and light rusting. The tubes may or may not be good. We are selling
it in this condition for display as a nice addition to a collection of hard hat diving gear and as a memento of WW II.
