Continental Navy Ships Cannon Miniature 24 Pounder
Presented is a miniature cannon of the type that was on the gun decks of ships of the line during the time of the American Revolutionary Navy. It replicates the 24
pound cannons on frigates of the Continental Navy such as the USS Constitution with outstanding attention to
detail. Its proportions are of a ship’s long gun which is fitted to a Walnut carriage with opening trunnion caps.
The touch hole and bore are functional. It has the characteristics
of the most noteworthy examples of miniature cannons of this period and type which include: Ramrod and powder rod included Prominent cascabel knob Low line trunnions Working trunnion caps Six reinforcing bandsAiming wedge with brass handle Walnut carriage 6 7/8 inch barrel
