Presented are two highly decorative cast bronze dolphins designed in classic British style

The highly decorative bronzes would possibly be used to draw
attention to an object or increase its importance. They stand 17 inches tall, are
3 inches deep and 8 3/4 inches wide at the base. They weigh 21 1/2 pounds each. They also may be used as door stops or in various other ways that are limited only by
your imagination.
Below they are shown side-by-side, and
below is shown the reverse which exposes the molds cavity. You can see the foundry’s mark
near the base of each. It is a tiny fish.
MADE: Since we’re not sure that these dolphins were ever intended to be used as andirons and as we’ve not been able to find other examples that exist in this configuration, they were likely custom-made for the type of use we’ve explained.

There are no discernible casting defects or any other things to make note of.
