Simex MK I Sextant

Like New Condition

Presented is a Simex MK I Sextant in fine condition. It doesn’t appear to have been used. We date this to the early 1970s, although the certificate is in Japanese so we are unable to verify a specific date. The Serial Number is 686137. There are two scopes included: 4X and 12X.

The sextant case is also in very nice condition and includes the key. The instrument is working properly including the light feature. The shade and mirrors are clear.

The Simex sextant line was developed in the early 1970s, between retired Captain Svend Simonsen and Tamaya of Japan. Captain Simonsen had an established navigation school and wished to private label a sextant for use by his students and others using celestial navigation. During the mid and late 1970s, we also worked closely with Tamaya to develop and distribute Tamaya sextants within our Nautech Maritime company.
