QUALITY MARINE NAVIGATION LIGHTS & LAMPS
In the recent past, copper and brass kerosene burning ships lanterns
and lights were available form the ship wrecking yards in India, Bangladesh,
and other impoverished nations where this trade is still being done. The practice was to ship them over here by the container
loads, fully polished, and ready for sale. FYI, oil burning lamps have not been used at sea in 60 years.
Contemporary ships lighting is still coming here from those
sources, but now they are coming from ships built as late as the 1970s and 1980. Many have plastic housings, and even plastic
Fresnel lenses which get cloudy with age and all are electric.
That is not what we sell. We pride ourselves in finding
ships navigation lights and lighting of unusual size, shape, and use, in excellent condition. Sometimes we sell them in “as
found” condition, but only if they meet our high standards for quality and originality. If we feel they should be preserved
as a work of industrial art, we will polish them at considerable expense in this country.
Our
collection is of authentic, seagoing lights that met the international regulations for use at sea in force at the time they
were made. There are no reproductions here.
Please scroll down. There are numerous rare ships lamps on this page. Their pictures are linked to
detailed information and more photographs.
